75 miljoner dollar budget?

Det var tidigare sagt att The Hunger Games budget var runt $60 milljoner dollar (cirka 361 miljoner kr) nu har det kommit en artikel från Wall Street Journal om att den är runt $75 miljoner dollar (cirka 452 miljoner kr).


The highest-profile of the new candidates is Lions Gate Entertainment Corp.’s adaptation of Ms. Collins’s popular “Hunger Games” trilogy, which has more than 8.8 million copies in print. The series’ first film, about a teenage girl forced to compete for her life on a reality television show, has a production budget of roughly $75 million and is slated for release next March.

Regissören Gary Ross kommenterade budgeten i EW tidigare detta år och det här är vad vad han sa:

Ross: I’m not allowed to confirm the budget number, but I will say it’s enough money to make the movie well and not disappoint a single fan. It’s a lot less money than a lot of other franchises or tentpoles of the same stature. But I don’t mind budget constraints.


Personligen hoppas jag på att budgeten är så hög som möjligt så filmen kan bli så bra som möjligt! Eller hur? Kommentera vad du tycker!

Loaded question: Who plays a paunchy, pathetic drunk better than John C. Reilly? Actually, that’s a bit of a trick, because the answer, of course, is no one. And for that reason, we’re told it will be the Oscar-nominated Reilly who’ll be soon be getting the offer to play Haymitch Abernathy in the forthcoming adaptation of Suzanne Collins's The Hunger Games at Lionsgate Films.

LOS ANGELES, CA, April 22, 2011- Lionsgate® and the filmmakers of THE HUNGER GAMES are pleased to announce that actress Paula Malcomson has been cast in the role of Katniss and Primrose Everdeen’s mother in the much anticipated film adaptation of Suzanne Collins’ worldwide smash hit novel.

Paula Malcomson joins talented young actresses in the roles of her daughters - Jennifer Lawrenceas series heroine Katniss Everdeen, and Willow Shields as little sister Primrose. Josh Hutchersonhas been cast as Peeta Mellark, with Liam Hemsworth in the role of Gale Hawthorne.  Amandla Stenberg in the role of Rue, DayoOkeniyi as her District 11 partner Thresh, and Leven Rambin and Jack Quaid as District 1’s Glimmer and Marvel round out the cast of the fellow tributes drafted to join Katniss and Peeta in the arena.

Said producer Nina Jacobson of the choice, ““Katniss and Prim’s mother has come back from the depths of despair.  Her husband has been killed, resources are scarce and she must live in fear that either one of her daughters could be forced to participate in the Hunger Games.  Needless to say, we needed an actress with some gravitas – someone who could really transport herself, and audiences, to a place as tough as District 12.  Paula has appeared in some really top notch TV shows that are both extremely gritty and extremely imaginative, and she was the perfect choice for this role.”

Malcomson is represented by UTA, and manager Seven Summits.  Her most recent credits include the HBO series DEADWOOD, and the SyFy series CAPRICA.  Last year she had a season long arc on the F/X series SONS OF ANARCHY.

Nu har det officiellt skrivits vem som ska spela Prim och det är Willow Sheilds! EW har en artikel om det, där regissören Gary Ross säger några ord om henne.


“It’s so exciting to find an amazing young actress like the one we just met,” director Gary Ross said in a statement about the casting. “Prim is an emotionally demanding role and in many ways she is the cornerstone of the story. Willow Shields will make an amazing Prim and we’re very lucky to have her.”

När Amandla Stenberg blev castad så tog jag iniativet och mailade henne och nu har jag fått svar! Här är hela svaret.


Hi,


Thanks for contacting me. Did you know that Stenberg is a Swedish name? My father is actually Danish and was born and raised in Copenhagen. In 2007, I visited Denmark and had an amazing time visiting with family and friends - even though it rained the entire three weeks we were there. :)

 

I never got the chance to meet my Danish grandparents, Tage and Ena Stenberg who are both deceased. But I have a violin that belonged to Tage. My grandmother, Ena, was from Greenland so I'm part Inuit. She was a radio personality and singer in Denmark who performed with a group called Mik that sang at the World's Fair in New York in 1964. Someday I want to track down her recordings so I can hear her.

 

This may be more than you want to know about my Danish heritage, but because you're in Sweden, I thought you might be interested. Plus I'm proud of my Scandinavian roots!

 

I am so excited to be playing Rue in THE HUNGER GAMES. Because I was already a fan of the books - I've read the first one five times - the audition process was really exciting. I'm looking forward to working Gary Ross and the rest of the HUNGER GAMES cast and crew. And I just know that meeting Suzanne Collins will be a real thrill. I read an interview in which she said that she's planning to be on set when Rue dies. OMG!!!

Det går väldigt snabbt nu med alla casting nyheter.

Officiela Facebook sidan har lagt till två nya skådespelare som ska spela Glimmer och Marvel från distrikt 1.  Glimmer kommer spelas av Leven Rambin och Marvel av Jack Quaid.

Elizabeth Banks is in talks to star in “Hunger Games” as Effie Trinket, the flighty bureaucrat who wrangles the young death-match contestants to their fates, Variety’s Justin Kroll exclusively reports. Also joining the cast are Amandla Stenberg and Dayo Okeniyi, who will play Rue and Thresh. Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth are already attached as leads to the project based on the wildly popular books, which Lionsgate hopes will be Hollywood’s next “Twilight”-sized phenomenon.

Lionsgate (genom officiella Hunger Games Facebook page) har berättat castingen av Dayo Okeniyi som Thresh och Amandla Stenberg som Rue för The Hunger Games filmen.

På officiela facebook sidan har de även gjort en "Hunger Games casting chart" där man kan se alla som blivit castade och sedan kommer listan fyllas på.

"Okeniyi, playing the intimidatingly strong tribute, has appeared in a short called Eyes to See and an upcoming horror film, Slew Hampshire. Stenberg, who is on board as Katniss’ arena ally Rue, has roles in the September’s Colombiana and the telefilm Taste of Romance."
